I was reading Tim Marsh’s Blog Post ‘Teachers that I find Interesting‘ where he spoke about Sir Ken Robinson and his thoughts on differentiation etc. which made me think about a unit I had just completed entitled ‘Perspectives in Education’ where we learnt about Sir Ken. On his website, there are heaps of resources including youtube videos. One thing I remember from Perspectives, is that I really liked how he said that we need to teach creativity in schools, and how schools are stifling students creativity. That they focus more on Maths and English, rather than incorporating times for students to use their imagination and creative side, as some students will be more creative (arty, musical etc), compared to Maths and Science. Incorporating this into the classroom is something that I will try to do on prac, but will definitely do when I have my own class one day.
